Box Score 2 BRONX, N.Y. (Apr. 13, 2024) – Taking a 6-0 win to start the afternoon Fordham University Softball split a pair of games against Dayton Saturday at Bahoshy Field
The Rams would burst open the scoring with one swing in the bottom of the second, as Bailey Enoch launched a grand slam for her sixth home run of the season, giving the Rams a 4-0 lead early on. Fordham would go on to score a pair of runs in the sixth, and go on to take a shutout victory in the opener, before Dayton took game two by a final of 2-0.
After a scoreless first inning for either side in game one, the first two base runners would reach safely for the Rams in the bottom of the second, as they began to set up shop in their second turn at the dish. A sac-bunt was followed by a walk to Kate McGuire, as the nine hitter in the Fordham order loaded the bases as the lineup flipped over for Enoch.
Stepping up in style, the Rams' left fielder would drill a grand slam over the wall the left-center field to turn a scoreless game into a 4-0 Fordham lead with one swing of the bat, giving her side a strong lead after two innings of play.
Two more scoreless frames would follow in the third and fourth innings, with neither side plating a run again until the fifth. Placing runners on the corners to start the bottom of the fifth, Michaela Carter would score on a snap throw to first that scampered into right field, to put her side up five, before Sudall scored on a wild pitch to extend a 6-0 lead.
Miller would close things out for the Rams in the circle, tallying her 11th complete game of 2024, picking up her fourth win in her last four decisions. The fifth-year pitcher would mow down six Flyers in the game one victory, while giving up just three hits for her ninth overall win of the campaign.
Dayton would be the first to threaten in game two, but despite having three runners on in the top of the second, Holly Beeman would stay cool in the circle striking out back-to-back batters to leave the bases loaded. The Flyers would tack on the only two runs of the contest in the top of the fourth inning to split day one action with a 2-0 win in the latter game of the afternoon.
