Box Score

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Mar. 26, 2024) – Heading to Long Island for a meeting with one of the top offenses in the nation, Fordham University softball fell to Missouri Tuesday 20-0.

Tuesday marked the third game against a Top-25 opponent this season for the Rams, as the Tigers moved up three spots to No. 12 in this week's NFCA/USA Today and No. 13 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Rankings just before first pitch.

The Rams would blank Missouri in their first turn at the dish, but would go down in order in the bottom half to leave it scoreless through one. From there the Tigers would break out for eight runs in the second inning, to take the lead after two.

Bouncing back in the third, Fordham would keep Missouri off the board in the frame, but the score would hold after three with the Tigers still up. The visitors would tack on six more in the fourth to pull ahead 14-0 through four, and add six more in the fifth to take the win 20-0. Fordham would break through in the fifth, breaking up a perfect game with a single and fielder's choice late.

Fordham softball heads back into league action this weekend with a trip to Fairfax, Va. for a three game conference set with George Mason. The Rams and Patriots will play a doubleheader Friday afternoon before closing with a single game Saturday afternoon.
