Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. – In the rubber game of the opening Atlantic 10 series of the 2024 campaign, Fordham University softball blanked Rhode Island 6-0, Sunday afternoon. The host Rams claim the series win 2-1, with Fordham also taking a 3-0 win in the weekend opener the day before.

In her second complete game of the for her side in as many days, Devon Miller would pick up the win, combining for 14.0 innings of scoreless pitching and a pair of wins across the two starts, giving up just three hits Sunday afternoon.

After splitting the first two games of the series on Saturday, the Battle of the Rams saw Fordham jump out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth before adding three more runs in the following inning, and one more for good measure in the sixth.

A pair of runs would come around to score in the bottom of the third as Eva Korasis drilled a single to the outfield with two runners in scoring position to take the lead halfway through Sunday's deciding game in the series.

Working out of a jam in the top of the fourth, the Rams would rip three straight singles, scoring Michaela Carter from second to make it 3-0. With runners on second and third and just one gone in the frame, Rhode Island would make a call to the bullpen, getting the second out of the frame before loading the bases once more.

With the bases juiced, Neleh Nogay would be hit by a pitch to force a run home, followed by a base hit by Wells to score Gianna Sarlo and make it five nothing through four. Fordham would put two more in scoring position in the bottom of the sixth, scoring a run on a sac fly, before Miller closed out the game in the seventh, picking up her second win of the series in her second complete game of the weekend as well.

Fordham softball is back in action Wednesday afternoon, closing a six-game homestand with a single game at 3:00 p.m. at Bahoshy Field.
