Softball Host FDU in Doubleheader Wednesday Afternoon

The Rams and Knights square off at 1:00 p.m. in game one from Bahoshy Field

BRONX, N.Y. – Returning to Five Boroughs for a local non-conference bout, Fordham University Softball takes on FDU Wednesday afternoon in a doubleheader at Bahoshy Field. 

On the Docket

  • The Rams and Knights will square off at 1:00 p.m. in game one, with game two to follow 30 minutes after. Live stats will be available on FordhamSports.com.

Top of the Order

  • Six Rams enter Wednesday with at least 11 hits on the year, Bailey Enoch and Sydney Wells lead Fordham with 18 and 17 hits respectively.

  • Four Rams have started and played in every game this season, including Kate McGuire who leads the batting order hitting .314 entering the final tune up before A-10 play kicks off this weekend. 

  • With the second most hits of any player, the Fordham shortstop has tallied 16 hits and 11 runs scored, also second best on the team.

Bronx Bombers

  • Juan Soto and Aaron Judge aren't the only heavy hitters in The Bronx, as a pair of big bats at the top of the Fordham order, Enoch and Wells have combined for 11 home runs and 31 RBIs while also sitting first and second on the team with 12 and 11 runs scored.

  • Wells enters Wednesday with a .678 slugging percentage, totaling 17 hits, with 11 of those for extra bases with five doubles and six home runs.

  • Enoch sits just behind Wells with a .594 slugging percentage, scattering 18 hits with four doubles, a pair of triples and five home runs.

  • The duo also lead the Rams with 12 and 11 runs scored, respectively.

Taking Bases

  • Enoch also sits 5-for-5 this season on stolen base attempts, while both McGuire and Neleh Nogay sit 3-for-3.

  • Michaela Carter has drawn a team-high 12 walks, with McGuire sitting second with nine, and Wells one back of that with eight.

Circle This

  • Holly Beeman picked up a pair of victories at the Tiger Invitational to lead the Rams' pitching core with five wins on the year.

  • The sophomore right-hander has thrown an even 20 strikeouts in 54.0 innings pitched, the most of any Fordham hurler through non-conference action.

  • Tied for the team high in games started with seven, graduate Devon Miller enters Wednesday with a pair of wins under her belt, while fanning 34 batters in 51.1 innings pitched.

The Tiger Invitational 

  • Fordham would split day one, using a big fifth inning to score three runs, while Beeman tossed a complete game, helping her side to a 3-2 win over Mercer to close the day.

  • Sunday the Rams defeated Longwood, rocking a pair of solo homers in the first, to take an early lead over Longwood in game one, and follow it with three more in the following inning. 

  • After the Lancers cut the lead to two, Fordham would score two more in the top of the seventh, before seeing out the final three outs to take a 7-3 win. 

  • The Rams would end the weekend 2-3, falling to No. 10/11 Clemson, Minnesota, and Longwood in the first meeting of the weekend.

Sibling Rivalry

  • Wednesday's clash will feature a pair of siblings going head to head on the diamond for bragging rights at home.

  • Fordham infielder Bella Ayala will be playing against her sister, a sophomore infielder for the Knights.

  • Mikayla Swan will also be facing off against her sister, Julia Swan, a junior pitcher at FDU.

Scouting FDU

  • Entering Wednesday 7-8 on the year, FDU is coming off a doubleheader with UAlbany that saw them take game one against the Great Danes 3-2, before falling in game two 9-1, in six innings.

  • Abby Hoesman leads the Knights with a 1.066 with 12 hits and six walks, along with a slugging and on-base percentage of +.500

What's On Deck

  • Fordham will continue their homestand this weekend when they open Atlantic 10 Conference play with a three game set against Rhode Island.

  • The "Battle of the Rams" will feature a Saturday doubleheader at Bahoshy Field at 12:00 p.m. followed by a single game at the same time the following day.
