Division I Women's ITA Collegiate Tennis National Rankings – December 3
BRONX – Fordham University's women's tennis double pair of
Nevena Kolarevic and
Julianne Nguyen are included in the most recent NCAA Division I women's tennis rankings, checking in as the 109
th ranked doubles team in the nation.
Kolarevic and Nguyen enjoyed a successful fall season, advancing to the ITA Conference Masters Championships in November.
The duo advanced to the championship by winning the Atlantic 10 Master's Qualifier at Davidson College in October. Kolarevic and Nguyen received a bye to the quarterfinal round where they defeated VCU's Mariam Ibrahim Mohamed Metwally and Amelie Jewelwics, 8-4.
In the semifinals, the pair shutout Duquesne's Kaya Rand and Alexandra O'Brien, 8-0, to advance to the finals where they upended Richmond's Sofia Maria Barbulescu and Elizabeth Novak in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
At the ITA Master's Championship, Kolarevic and Nguyen opened play falling to Xavier's Clara Owen Abby and Nugent Xavier, 7-5, 6-4, but rebounded to defeat Cleveland State's Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario, 7-5, 6-3, in the consolation round of 16. The duo was then eliminated from the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket with a loss to Liberty's Daniella O'Neill and Maria Turchetto. Kolarevic and Nguyen took the first set from the Liberty pair, 6-4, but dropped the second, 6-3, and the tiebreaker, 10-7.
Kolarevic and Nguyen finished the fall season with a 5-2 doubles record.
