NEW YORK – Recognized for their outstanding achievements on the court and in the classroom, Fordham University Volleyball saw a trio of players garner CSC Academic All-District Honors Tuesday.
Graduate outside hitter Whitley Moody, senior libero Ryan Naumann, and sophomore setter Whitney Woodrow each took home All-District honors, with Moody advancing to the national ballot for potential Academic All-American distinction.
"The 2024 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA."
Tallying 363 kills and the best season-long average of her career at 3.74 kills per set across 97 sets played, Moody led the Fordham offense in 2024, while also sitting as one of the top receivers at 2.77 digs per set with 269 in her career. Moody was also named to the A-10 All-Academic team, graduating in May with a 3.87 GPA, and is currently in her first semester pursuing a Master's degree at Fordham.
Etching herself as one of the storied players in program history, earlier this season, Moody became the program's all-time kills leader, and has obliterated the previous mark, finishing her career with 1,637 kills. Moody has also set the single-game program record for kills in a four-set match with 25 against Duquesne in mid-October and will graduate as the only player ever in program history to record over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs, also finishing seventh all time with 1,210 digs over her five-year career.
Naumann has helped lead the Rams from one of the toughest positions in sports, helping lock down the libero spot throughout her career. Naumann's senior campaign saw her tally a career best in digs and assists, soaring past her previous bests, leading the team this season with over three digs per set, and setting a new career high with 21 receptions against FDU late in non-conference play this season. Naumann has also been named to the Fordham Dean's List in each of the last three years.
Playing in all but three sets in 2024, Woodrow led the Rams for the second year in a row from the setter spot, as the sophomore dished out 6.53 assists per set, and 2.54 digs per set as well. Nearly eclipsing 1,500 assists over her first two years on Rose Hill, Woodrow has dished 1,480 dimes in her career, while corralling 536 digs, along with 35.0 total blocks.
