Bronx, N.Y. – (August 27, 2026) – The 2026 Fordham volleyball season gets underway this weekend at the Cherry & White Invitational, hosted by Temple University in Philadelphia.
The Rams are under new management with first year head coach
Bryan Weber at the helm. Fordham returns 14 players from last year's squad and welcome four newcomers to Rose Hill. On opening weekend, Fordham will face Rider on Friday with Saturday matches against host Temple and Manhattan.
SERIES HISTORIES
- Fordham has plenty of history with all three schools this weekend.
- Fordham and Rider have met 16 times since 1988 with Rider holding a 9-7 edge. Fordham has won the last three meetings, including the last one in 2019.
- For Saturday, Fordham and tournament host Temple were Atlantic 10 opponents from 1995 through 2012, playing twice a season in that stretch. Temple holds a 32-6 series edge, following last year's meeting at the Rose Hill Classic, which Temple won, 3-1.
- While separated by just a few miles, the Battle of the Bronx between Fordham and Manhattan will take place in Philadelphia on Saturday. Since 1990, Fordham is 24-8 against the Jaspers, which includes a 3-0 win in the last meeting in 2024.
NEWS & NOTES
- The Rams are led by first year head coach Bryan Weber, who spent the last 11 seasons at St. John's as an assistant coach and associate head coach. Prior to St. John's, he was an assistant coach at his alma mater, New Paltz.
- Fordham was picked tenth in the preseason Atlantic 10 coaches poll.
- Last season, the Rams were 9-19 overall, but set multiple team blocking records, including total blocks at 303. Fordham tallied 17 games with 10 or more blocks, and broke the total blocks record in 15 fewer sets than the 2005 Rams.
- Despite missing a portion of the year with an injury, Tatum Holderied still managed to set the single season block assists record with 144 in 2025, while her 1.83 blocks per set were the second-best mark in school history. She also currently holds the career blocks per set record at 1.43.
- Whitney Woodrow enters 2026 ninth on Fordham' career assists total with 2,123. Currently, only five Rams have reached the 3,000-assist mark.
