Five Women’s Soccer Players Garner Academic All-District Honors

Abby Borchers, Tristan McFarlane, Ella Guth, Julia Holton, & Sari Frankl Earn Academic Accolade

Bronx, N.Y. – (November 20, 2024) – The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, were released this week and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  For the 2024 season, five Fordham Rams garnered Academic All-District® honors: Abby Borchers, Tristan McFarlane, Ella Guth, Julia Holton, and Sari Frankl.

Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.  In order to receive this honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and played in 75% of games this season.

Guth, a 2024 team tri-captain, earns Academic All-District honors for the second straight season.  A Business Administration major, she is a two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.  She started all 18 games she appeared in this season, playing over 1,500 minutes at defender.  Guth helped the Fordham defense to six shutouts and added two assists offensively.

McFarlane is also a repeat Academic All-District honoree.  A two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, she is studying Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.  She switched from midfielder to defender at the start of Atlantic 10 play and fit in nicely.  McFarlane started 13 of the 15 games in 2024 for the Rams, playing over 1,200 minutes.  Offensively, she netted one goal and an assist, while defensively she was a part of five shutouts.

Holton is the third two-time Academic All-District selection for the Rams.  A Finance major, she is a two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.  This season, Holton appeared in 18 games, making 13 starts and playing almost 1,200 minutes.  She was a part of six Fordham shutouts and set a new career-high with three assists.

Frankl earned the honor for the first time after appearing in all 19 games this season and making 18 starts.  She plans on studying Sociology and is a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.  Frankl played over 1,300 minutes in the Rams' midfield and was a part of all six Fordham shutouts on the year.

Borchers, who was an Academic All-District selection in 2021 at Cal, had an outstanding season for Fordham.  Studying Public Media in graduate school, she ranked third on the Rams in goals (8) and points (19), setting career-highs in both categories.  She also had a team-best three game-winning goals and was selected as Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week once.
