Mrva Wins Met Intercollegiate, Fordham Finishes Second

Senior claims his third individual title in the last two years

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Senior Jake Mrva closed out his fall season in historic fashion on Tuesday, becoming the first Fordham golfer to win three career individual titles with a victory at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship hosted by Wagner at Montclair Golf Club.

Mrva, who entered the day in a tie for second after an opening 70, fired a final-round 72, playing his final eight holes in two under to win his third title since September of last year.  He took home the Hartford Hawks Invitational in September of 2023 before capturing the ABARTA Coca-Cola Invitational the following April.  Prior to today, he was one of only three Fordham golfers to win multiple events, joining Tim Moynihan (2000-01) and Brian McClure (2002-06).

As a team, Fordham jumped two spots to finish in second place (+36).  The effort marked Fordham's first time finishing second or better in a field with at least 11 teams since winning the Ryan Lee Memorial in September of 2017.  Rhode Island took home the team title with a 36-hole score of 19 over.

Freshman Patrick Ginnity recorded the best finish of his young career, moving into a tie for 11th win a final-round 74.  Competing as an individual, sophomore Luke Brower shot a two-over 72 to also finish in a share of 11th.

Sophomore Tucker Silva enjoyed the Rams' biggest jump on Tuesday, shooting a three-over 73 to move into a share of 20th place.

Senior Chris Konefal also authored a sizable leap up the leaderboard in the final found, shooting a 74 to move up 13 spots into 22nd and round out the Rams' scorers.

Freshman Liam Howard enjoyed a six-shot improvement on Tuesday, moving into a tie for 45th.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Felix Luetke Meyring also finished in a tie for 45th with a nine-over 79.

Bryan Ruland finished in 54th after a final-round 84.

The Rams will return to action in the spring beginning with the Battle at Rum Pointe, hosted by Iona in Berlin, Md.
