MONTCLAIR, N.J. – A Jake Mrva hole-in-one highlighted the opening day of the Met Intercollegiate Championship for the Fordham golf team on Monday, as the Rams sit fourth in the 11-team field after 18 holes at Montclair Golf Club.
Mrva aced the 200-yard, par-3 fifth hole on his way to an even-par 70. Impressively, it marked Mrva's second ace in the span of just four days, as he also recorded a hole-in-one on the 13th hole of a practice round at Wykagyl Country Club on Friday.Â
On the individual leaderboard, Mrva sits three shots back of Rhode Island's Aidan O'Donovan, who carded seven birdies on his way to a three-under 67. Rhode Island also sits atop the team leaderboard at +6, 13 shots clear of Fairfield in second. Fordham is four shots back of the Stags.
Freshman Patrick Ginnity logged the Rams' second-best round of the day, shooting a five-over 75 to grab a share of 13th place.
Tucker Silva and Chris Konefal each shot a 79 to round out the Rams' Monday scorers in 35th place.
Freshman Liam Howard, who led the Rams with a T-11 finish at last week's Nassau Intercollegiate, shot an 83.
Three Rams are playing the Met Intercollegiate Championship as individuals. Luke Brower fired a 77, good enough for a share of 23rd after 18 holes. Bryan Ruland (80) sits in 41st while Felix Luetke Meyring (81) is right behind him in a tie for 46th.Â
The Rams will close out the Met Intercollegiate, their final event of the fall season, with 18 holes beginning tomorrow at 10 a.m.
