MILFORD, Conn. – Senior standout Jake Mrva paced the Fordham golf team on the second day of the SHU Fall Classic, firing a final-round 72 to take third place at Great River Golf Club.
Mrva finished the tournament at three over, five shots back of Yale's Will Lodge at the top of the leaderboard. The effort marked the third top-four finish of Mrva's Fordham tenure, which includes a pair of individual tournament victories.
As a squad, Fordham finished in fourth out of eight teams at Great River Golf Club. Hofstra and Manhattan shared the team title with a three-round total of 901, seven shots ahead of Fordham in fourth. Southern New Hampshire finished one shot shy of a three-way tie at 902.
In addition to Mrva's third-place effort, four other Rams finished in the top 25 of the individual leaderboard. Chris Konefal shot a Tuesday 79 to grab a share of 16th place, one shot clear of Tucker Silva (80) in 21st.Â
Freshmen Patrick Ginnity and Liam Howard both finished in a tie for 23rd. Â Ginnity carded a final-round 79 while Howard posted his best score of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a three-over 75 for the team's second-best round of the day.
Felix Luetke Meyring logged his best round of the tournament, a 78, to tie for 41st while Luke Brower finished in a tie for 44th after a closing 80.
Bryan Ruland (86) tied for 48th on the individual leaderboard.
Fordham will return to action on Oct. 21 when it begins play at the Nassau Invitational hosted by LIU at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove.Â
