Patriot League Release

BRONX, N.Y. – Following Fordham's 40-37 win at FBS Buffalo on Saturday, the Patriot League recognized four Rams for weekly honors. Sophomore quarterback CJ Montes, junior linebacker James Conway, and senior kicker Brandon Peskin were named Patriot League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively, while freshman defensive back Andrew Osmun was named the League's Rookie of the Week.

Montes, who was also named FedEx Ground FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, completed 23 of 36 passes for 309 yards and five touchdowns to lead Fordham to the victory over the Bulls. He connected with grad student wide receiver MJ Wright on a 15-yard scoring strike with 2:32 remaining in the game in what turned out to be the game-winner. Montes, who had  a 181.8 passing efficiency for the game, also rushed 14 times for 40 net yards.

The game was Montes' second straight 300-yard, five-touchdown game.

Over his first three games as a starter at Fordham, Montes has completed 65 of 98 passes for 826 yards and eleven touchdowns. His eleven scoring strikes are the most ever for a Fordham quarterback in his first three starts as a Ram. Montes leads the NCAA FCS in passing yards and passing touchdowns and is sixth in passing yards/game (275.3) and seventh in total offense (293.3/ yards/game).

Conway led the Fordham defense with 13 total tackles, 12 solo, including one for loss. He also recovered a fumbled punt return that set up a Fordham touchdown.

On the season Conway is leading Fordham with 30 total tackles, 20 solo, including one for loss. He is third in the Patriot league, and 28th in the NCAA FCS, in tackles/game (10.0).

Peskin booted a pair of field goals and was 4-for-5 in PATs in the Buffalo win. His field goals were from 38 yards late in the first quarter to get the Rams on the board and from 44-yards just before halftime to cut the Rams' deficit to four at the break, 21-17. It was a career-long for Peskin.

On the year, Peskin is 4-for-4 in field goals as he leads the Patriot League in field goals/game (1.33).

Osmun finished the Buffalo game with six total tackles, four solo. Over his first three collegiate games, he has recorded eight total stops, five solo.
