Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham freshman wide receiver
Troy Worrell was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, presented by Credit Union 1, it was announced today. It is the first weekly award of the year for the White Plains, N.Y., native.
In a 28-27 loss at Merrimack on Saturday, Worrell caught six passes for 160 yards and one score. He hauled in a 73-yard scoring strike from junior quarterback
Gunnar Smith in the third quarter that gave the Rams a 26-13 lead. The 160 yards in a season-high for a Fordham receiver this year.
On the season, Worrell caught 19 passes for 216 yards and four touchdowns. He tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns and was third on the squad in yards/receptions (11.4).
