BRONX, N.Y. – With the loss of a number of student-athletes from last year's squad, the 2023 Fordham football team has some questions to answer. Head coach
Joe Conlin, entering his sixth season on the Fordham sidelines, began to address those questions today as the Rams opened their fall camp on Murphy Field.
Â
Conlin guided the Rams through a two-hour workout as they prepare for the 2023 season opener on August 26 when Fordham travels to Albany to face the University at Albany Great Danes at 7:00 p.m.
Â
Some notes from today's practice:
Â
• The July 26 start to fall camp is one of the earliest starts to camp for the Rams.
Â
• The Rams practiced with helmets only and will do the same tomorrow. On Friday and Saturday they will be in spiders before donning shoulder pads for Sunday. The first day of full pads will be Wednesday, August 2.
Â
• A few veterans changed uniform numbers with wide receiver
Mekai Felton moving from number 15 to 1, running back
Julius Loughridge swapping number 30 for 15, and defensive back
Demarice Rice-Williams switched from 19 to 0.
Â
• There were many new faces on Jack Coffey Field today with over 25 freshmen/first year Rams taking part in their first practice.
Â
• There were also a lot of experiences faces at practice today as 14 Rams are taking advantage of a fifth year.
Â
• Four former Rams are currently in NFL training camps (Chase Edmonds, Buccaneers; Nick Zakelj, 49ers; Dylan Mabin, Falcons;
Tim DeMorat, Commanders).
Â
• Season and individual game tickets for the 2023 home season are now on sale through the
Fordham Athletic Ticket Office.
