Women’s Soccer Announces Staff Changes

Shannon Colligan Promoted to Assistant Coach; Gabby Isola Named Assistant Coach at William & Mary

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham women's soccer head coach Magnus Nilerud announces changes to his staff on Monday, as Gabby Isola has departed for a coaching position at William & Mary, while Shannon Colligan has been promoted to assistant coach at Fordham.

"We would like to thank Gabby Isola for her time spent with Fordham Women's Soccer program. We wish her the best of luck as she continues her career path with William & Mary."

Isola will take on full-time second assistant coach duties at William & Mary, including working with the Tribe goalkeepers as well as assisting with all aspects of the program.

In her lone season at Fordham, Isola worked with the Rams' trio of goalkeepers, Maria O'Sullivan, Serena Mensah, and Kyla King, and was involved heavily with the day-to-day operations of the program.

Colligan served as the Volunteer Director of Operations and Alumni & Community Outreach Liaison for the women's soccer program for the last year.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Shannon to her new position with Fordham Women's Soccer. Having spent time with Coach Colligan this past year in a voluntary capacity and as a former player of mine, she knows the demands that we strive for, so it will be a natural transition for her. I'm excited to watch her and the program grow with her new role."

Colligan played soccer for Coach Nilerud at the University of Bridgeport, as well as lacrosse.  In her senior season, she helped the soccer team make it to the NCAA Elite Eight, was named to the All-East Region First Team, and was selected to the All-East Region All-Star Team.   Prior to Bridgeport, she played soccer at North Carolina State and Richmond, playing both soccer and lacrosse for the Spiders. In her junior soccer season, she finished tenth in the NCAA Division I for assists, which put her second in the Richmond Spiders' record book.

Since Bridgeport, Colligan played professional soccer in Sweden for Sandviken Dam FC in 2019, while also working for BlueStreak Sports Training for seven years, specializing in speed, strength, agility training and trained skill development for lacrosse and soccer players. She also served as the Assistant Girls Soccer Coach at New Canaan High School and the Assistant Girls Lacrosse Coach at Greenwich High School.
