Philadelphia, Pa./Ewing, N.J. – (April 29, 2023) – The weather continued to cause problems, but the Fordham track & field team was able to complete their stays at both the Penn Relays and Lions Outdoor Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

In Philadelphia, the Rams competed in three finals, beginning with the men's 4x100 relay Eastern final.  Fordham's group of Liam Volz, Kenneth Maxwell, Matthew Nurse, and Christian Weddington made their mark, finishing fourth in a school record time of 41.87 seconds.  Their time bested the previous record of 42.03, set in 1989 by Steve Sharpe, Ricky Jones, Frank Donalds, and Wayne Seaton.

Next was the college women's 4x800 relay event, where the Rams' team of Helen Connolly, Marin Bogulski, Mary Kathryn Underwood, and Jilli Jones placed tenth in a season-best time of 9:05.47.

The last event at the Penn Relays for Fordham was the men's 4x400 relay Eastern final.  Fordham took silver in the event with the team of Kevin Callaghan, Erik Brown, Zalen Nelson, and Nurse, placing second in a season-best time of 3:16.51.

In New Jersey at the Lions Outdoor Invitational, Fordham had a handful of competitors on Saturday with the Rams' best event being the women's 400-meter hurdles.  Sophia Crucs finished third in the event at 1:08.85 with Kylie Ritz in seventh at 1:11.68.
