Nogay Catch |
Weekend Highlights
Newport News, Va. – Freshman outfielder
Neleh Nogay picked up her second piece of Atlantic 10 hardware on Monday afternoon, being named Rookie of the Week by the league office.
"Another solid week for Nelly as she continues to use her speed and athleticism to contribute both offensively and defensively." said head coach
Melissa Inouye.
Nogay continued her stellar play in conference action by slashing .375/.444/.375 despite not recording a hit in two games at Saint Joseph's, though she did walk and score once. She was instrumental to the Rams' sweep of UMass, though, going 2-for-3 in all three games with three runs scored, a RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Plus, she kicked off the entire series with a highlight reel catch in foul territory for the weekend's first out, which you can see at the link above.
The New Castle, Pa. native remains Fordham's top hitter in conference contests, slashing an absurd .491/.526/.528 over 17 consecutive starts. For the year, she's the Rams' leader in average (.381), hits (40), and steals (11).
Fordham returns to action this Wednesday at Stony Brook at 3 p.m.
