Piscataway, N.J. – (April 22, 2023) – As the Fordham track & field team gears up for its three biggest meets of the outdoor season, the Rams were in New Jersey on Saturday, competing at the Rutgers Relays, held at the Bauer Track & Field Complex. Fordham had a successful day, finishing first or second in seven events.
The day of running began with the 5,000-meter run, where
Ryan Fahey placed seventh in the men's event at 15:41.78, while
Caitrina Barton was the top women's time at 18:34.28, good for 12
th.
Next in the 4x100 relay, Fordham recorded season-best times in both the men's and women's races. The men's group of
Jonah Coleman,
Kenneth Maxwell,
Christian Weddington, and
Liam Volz finished third in 42.75 seconds, while the women's team of
Dillyn Green,
Kyla Hill,
Kathryn Kelly, and
Skylar Harris were second in 47.17 seconds.

Individually, the members of the women's 4x100 relay had strong showings, beginning with Hill, who won the 200-meter dash in 24.34 seconds, while being second in the 100-meter dash (12.01), both in season-best times. Green was right behind Hill in both events, finishing fourth in the 100 meters (12.16) and third in the 200 meters (24.86). Then, Kelly was second in the long jump with a season-best mark of 20' 2 ¼" with Harris taking eighth at 18' 11 ½".
The men also did well with Weddington being second in the 100 meters in a season-best time of 10.60 seconds and fifth in the 200 meters (22.17), while Maxwell grabbed eighth in the 100 meters (10.96) and seventh in the 200 meters (22.37).
Matthew Nurse joined Weddington with a pair of top five finishes, as he was second in the 400 meters (49.36) and fourth in the 200 meters (22.08).
In the 800 meters,
Ben Borchers had the best men's finish in third place at 1:54.85 with
Zalen Nelson in sixth in 1:55.25. On the women's side,
Helen Connolly ran a season-best time of 2:14.38, good for eighth place.
In the hurdle events,
George Pomer was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.01) and tenth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.90), while on the women's side,
Nicole Lytle took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.75) with
Sophia Crucs taking fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.18.
The 1,500 meters and the 4x400 relay were the final two running events on the day. For the men,
Rodolfo Sanchez won the 1,500 meters in 3:57.74, followed by
Colin Flood in second (3:58.61) and
Nathan Bezuneh in fourth (3:59.34).
Marin Bogulski was the top women's runner in sixth at 4:50.98 with
Alexandra Thomas in eighth (4:55.43).
Then in the 4x400 relay, Fordham was third in the men's race at 3:22.04, while the women were fourth in 4:04.09.
Over in the field events,
Michael Croke was seventh in the pole vault, clearing 13' 8 ½", while Pomer tied for eighth in the high jump, clearing 5' 10 ¾".
For the women,
Casey Metzler posted a season-best mark of 143' 1" in the hammer throw, good for eighth place, while
Alexandra Manetovic had a season-best distance in the triple jump, taking fifth at 37' 10", followed by
Leia Ruvo in seventh (36' 11 ¾").
Amanda Gurth had a pair of top ten throws in the shot put (10
th – 36' ¼") and the discus throw (9
th – 104' ½"), while
Zoe Arakelian (5' 1") and Alison Burton (4' 11") were seventh and ninth, respectively, in the high jump.
Fordham will now take part in the 2023 Penn Relays, held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, from April 28-29.
