PHILADELPHIA- The Fordham crew team opened its spring competition season on Saturday with a strong showing at the Jesuit Invitational on The Schuylkill River.

The Rams captured two victories in the Second Varsity 8 and the Second Varsity 4. Fordham's other three boats also clocked top-three finishes, as the First Varsity 4 and Third Varsity 8 placed second while the First Varsity 8 also came in third.

The First Varsity 8 opened its action with a third-place showing (6:52.6) in the morning's time trial, earning a spot in the grand final. The Rams also finished the grand final in third with a time of 7:06.

The Second Varsity 8 won its morning time trial by a hair, edging Saint Joe's at the line by 0.4 seconds (07:08.4). The boat went on to win its grand final by a wider margin, finishing in 6:58, five seconds ahead of second-place Fairfield.
