PHILADELPHIA- The Fordham crew team opened its spring competition season on Saturday with a strong showing at the Jesuit Invitational on The Schuylkill River.
 
The Rams captured two victories in the Second Varsity 8 and the Second Varsity 4. Fordham's other three boats also clocked top-three finishes, as the First Varsity 4 and Third Varsity 8 placed second while the First Varsity 8 also came in third.
 
The First Varsity 8 opened its action with a third-place showing (6:52.6) in the morning's time trial, earning a spot in the grand final.  The Rams also finished the grand final in third with a time of 7:06.
 
The First Varsity 8 was made up of Caitlin Boyle (1), Jamie Forbes (2), Lila Evans (3), Maren Geier (4), Anya Casey (5), Margarita McCoy (6), Eleanor Rodde (7), Elli Lewis (8) and Stefania Rocca at coxswain.
 
The Second Varsity 8 won its morning time trial by a hair, edging Saint Joe's at the line by 0.4 seconds (07:08.4).  The boat went on to win its grand final by a wider margin, finishing in 6:58, five seconds ahead of second-place Fairfield.
 
The Second Varsity 8 was comprised of Catherine Samia (1), Tiernan Degnan (2), Anna Hinck (3), Bailey Scherdorf (4), Brooke Gould (5), Lauren Yu (6), Maja Gunz (7), Alex Zaneski (8) and Alena Bujnowski at coxswain.


The Third Varsity 8 finished second in its heat, just three seconds behind first-place Holy Cross (7:10) and 18 seconds clear of Fairfield in third.
 
The Third Varsity 8 was comprised of Taylor Bell (1), Olivia Capogna (2), Hannah Tovey (3), Seneca Fahry (4) , Logan Grey (5), Nicole Simbana (6), Jaden Hochroth (7), Abigail Butler (8) and Celeste Batres.
 
The First Varsity 4 finished second during its morning time trial (7:56) before finishing in second once again during the grand final with a time of 8:01, seven seconds behind first-place Holy Cross.
 
The First Varsity 4 was comprised of Nicolette Giamarusti (1), Olivia Pacitti (2), Molly Ewing (3), Aya Hubbard-Cree (4) and Charlotte Maravelis at coxswain.
 
The Second Varsity 4 dominated its race (8:05), finishing more than two minutes ahead of second-place Loyola.
 
The Second Varsity 4 was comprised of Eliza Collins (1), Jillian Klostermann (2), Fiona Eves (3), Jordan Schmidt (4) and Sophie Davis at coxswain.
