Geneva, Ohio – (February 18, 2023) – The Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has come to an end with the Fordham women's swimming & diving team finishing fifth out of 11 teams.
George Washington won team competition with 794.5 points, followed by Richmond with 479.5. It was then a race for third as just one point separated third from fifth place. George Mason took third with 414 points, while Duquesne finished fourth (413.5) and Fordham in fifth (413). Davidson (310), Massachusetts (255), La Salle (218.5), St. Bonaventure (190), Saint Louis (119), and Rhode Island (83).
The night of finals started out great for the Rams, as three swimmers scored in the 1650 freestyle event, led by
Clare Culver, who took the bronze medal for a third-place finish in a time of 16:41.92. Her 1000 freestyle split was a school record at 10:03.65, breaking her previous mark set last season (10:06.07).
Joining Culver in the scoring was
Ellen Brooks in 14
th (17:11.77) and
Ellie Graves in 16
th (17:16.84).

Next was the 200 backstroke where
Leire Martin finished just off the podium in fourth place at 1:57.39.
Fordham then scored in the 200 breaststroke, where
Ainhoa Martin earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and a silver medal in a school record and NCAA "B" cut time of 2:11.98. She broke the previous mark of
Becky Kamau from a year ago at 2:12.05.
Emma Shaughnessy also scored in the event, winning the "B" final for ninth place in 2:16.20.
The last individual event was the 200 butterfly, where
Jessica Zebrowski scored seventh overall in 2:20.57, while Brooks scored for the second time on the night in 16
th place at 2:08.27.
The final event of the championship was the 400 freestyle relay, where A. Martin, Zebrowski, Culver, and
Megan Morris placed seventh in 3:25.05.
