Geneva, Ohio – (February 18, 2023) – The Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has come to a close with the Fordham men's swimming & diving team finishing fifth out of eight teams. It was the Rams' best team finish since 2017.
George Washington won the team competition with 783 points, followed by George Mason (507.5), Massachusetts (458), Davidson (456.5), Fordham (408.5), St. Bonaventure (357), La Salle (278), and Saint Louis (188.5).
The first final for the Rams was the 200 backstroke, where
Christian Taylor scored 11
th overall in 1:47.74.
Fordham then had three finalists in the 100 freestyle event, led by
Taras Zherebetskyy and
Alex Wilhelm in the "A" final. Zherebetskyy recorded a school record time of 43.79 seconds to earn the silver medal and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, while Wilhelm was sixth in 44.64 seconds.
Taz Kanjanakaset also scored in 14
th place overall in 45.34 seconds.

The Rams' duo of
Noah Althoff and
Daniel Langlois were up next in the finals of the 200 breaststroke event. Althoff had the top finish in sixth place, clocking in with a school record time of 1:59.07, while Langlois was 13
th overall in 2:02.01.
It was another trio of finalists for Fordham in the 200 butterfly event. After setting the school record in the preliminaries with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:45.00,
Paris Raptis just missed the podium in fourth place at 1:45.71.
Ryan Davidoff joined the Fordham scoring in 12
th place at 1:51.86, while
Ryan Staunch was 15
th in 1:55.08.
In the three-meter dive,
Marco Petit scored 16
th overall with a finals score of 156.60.
The last event of the championship put an exclamation point on an eventful four days for the Rams. The 400 freestyle relay team of Taylor, Wilhelm, Raptis, & Zherebetskyy won the event with a school record time of 2:55.63, more than three seconds better than the previous mark of 2:59.25 in 2018.
