BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham Athletics celebrated another successful Holiday Food Drive this month, as members of the department donated nearly 700 pounds of food to help ease hunger in the local community. Â
In total, the department collected 690 pounds of food, enough for 575 meals. All collected items will be donated to Part of The Solution, an organization located just blocks from the Rose Hill campus on Webster Avenue.Â
In the spirit of friendly competition, the department was split into seven teams for the purposes of the food drive. Team Maroon, composed of men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball and softball, collected 335 pounds of canned fruit, far and away the highlight total of the seven squads.Â
Part of The Solution (POTS) opened its doors in 1982 with the goal of helping to address food insecurity among members of the local community. Over the ensuing four decades, POTS has adapted and expanded its services to meet a variety of needs for individuals embarking on a pathway to self-sufficiency.
