Fordham Inducts New Class of Athletic Hall of Fame

Eight inductees join the likes of Vince Lombardi, Frankie Frisch, and Anne Gregory O’Connell

Bronx, N.Y. – On a beautiful fall night under the Homecoming tent, Fordham University officially inducted eight new members to the Athletic Hall of Fame on October 5.
 
A host of family, friends, and supporters were on hand to watch as Samantha Clark, FCRH '16 (Women's Basketball), Chase Edmonds, FCRH '18 (Football), Titi Fagade, Gabelli '15 (Women's Track and Field), Elise Fortier, FCRH '14 (Softball), Jason Harris, FCRH '01 (Men's Basketball), Nick Macarchuk, (Former Men's Basketball Head Coach), Ifeatu Otue, FCRH '73 (Men's Soccer), and Natali Sunara, FCRH '96 (Women's Tennis) were honored with induction into the prestigious Hall of Fame.
 
Samantha Clark, FCRH '16 (Women's Basketball)
  • Four-year starter with women's basketball
  • Graduated with 1,263 points, which ranked ninth all-time (currently 13th), and grabbed 946 career rebounds, which is still ranked third
  • Was just the fourth player in program history to tally 1,200 career points and 900 career rebounds
  • Also blocked 149 career shots, which ranks third, and her career rebounding average of 7.2 rebounds per game ranks seventh
  • A Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team selection in 2015-2016
  • Led the Rams in scoring (12.5 ppg) and rebounding (9.6 rpg) as a senior
  • Recipient of the 2016 Claire & Jack Hobbs Memorial Award co-winner as the school's top female student-athlete
  • Ranked 18th in the A-10 in scoring, third in rebounding, tenth in blocks, fourth in field goal percentage, first in double-doubles and first in total rebounds
  • Nationally, ranked 20th in minutes played per game (37.2), 22nd in defensive rebounds per game (7.0), 43rd in total rebounds (297), 29th in double-doubles (14) and 37th in rebounds per game (9.6) in 2015-2016
  • Named to the 2013 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team, being named A-10 Rookie of the Week a school record five times in 2012-2013

 
 
Chase Edmonds, FCRH '18 (Football)
  • Four-year member of the football squad
  • Closed out his career as the Patriot League and Fordham all-time leading rusher and had the fifth most rushing yards in NCAA FCS history (5,862)
  • Also graduated as the Patriot League and Fordham all-time leader in career touchdowns (74) and rushing touchdowns (67)
  • The 67 rushing touchdowns is fourth-best among in NCAA FCS history while his career rushing yards/game average of 133.2 is 14th best
  • Still holds Fordham and Patriot League career records for rushing yards (5,862) and rushing touchdowns (67)
  • Also amassed 7,374 career all-purpose yards, a school and Patriot League career record, tenth best in NCAA FCS history
  • Named 2018 Second Team All-Patriot League as a senior (missed part of season due to injury)
  • Set the Patriot League and school single game rushing record with 359 yards vs. Lafayette in 2017
  • Finished fourth in the Walter Payton Award voting in 2016 and 2017
  • A 2016 consensus First Team All-American
  • Led the NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game (163.5) in 2016
  • Also ranked among 2016 NCAA FCS leaders in total rushing yards (second), all-purpose yards (194.64)(second), scoring (second), rushing touchdowns (third), and yards/carry (fourth)
  • Named 2016 team MVP
  • A 2015 consensus All-American
  • 2015 Patriot League and ECAC Offensive Player of the Year
  • Enjoyed one of the most successful seasons for a Fordham freshman in school history in 2014
  • Recipient of the 2014 Jerry Rice Award as the top NCAA FCS rookie
  • Named the 2014 CFPA National Rookie of the Year
  • Also named a consensus All-American and the 2014 Patriot League and ECAC Rookie of the Year
  • Became first Fordham freshman to rush for 1,000 yards in a season and just the sixth overall
  • Ranked in the top ten in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards, rushing yards/game, rushing touchdowns, all-purpose yards and scoring as a freshman
  • Named to the 2014, 2016 and 2017 Patriot League Commissioner's Honor Roll.
  • Drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft

 
 
Titi Fagade, Gabelli '15 (Women's Track and Field),
  • Holds school indoor record in the 400m, 500m, and 800m and with the 4x400 and 4x800 relays
  • Holds outdoor 800m mark and with the 4x400 relay
  • 2015 Hobbs Family Award winner as Fordham's Female Athlete of the Year.
  • 2015 Indoor Team MVP
  • Set three individual school records and two relay records in 2015
  • First Team All-Atlantic 10 as a member of the winning 4x800 relay at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship, which set the conference record with a time of 9:02.58
  • Earned 2015 Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 800m
  • Won the 500m at the 2015 ECAC Championship in a school record time of 1:12.23 to receive First Team All-East honors (third time she broke school mark)
  • 2015 Metropolitan indoor champion in the 500m (1:13.26) and the 4x800 relay (9:09.49)
  • Won the seeded 800m with an ECAC qualifying time of 2:09.42 at the Colonial Relays
  • Earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors indoors in 2014 by placing second in the 800m for the second straight year in a time of 2:11.88, just 0.36 seconds behind the winner
  • First Team All-East selection as a member of the 4x800 relay team, which won at the ECAC Championship with a school record time of 8:46.25
  • Anchored 4 x 800m relay that qualified for Championship of America 4x800m relay (First women's relay to run in a Championship of America and first relay (men or women) to compete in Championship of America at Penn since 1978
  • Ranked sixth in the country in the 500m with a 1:12.90 at the ECAC Championship, which garnered her Second Team All-East honors.
  • Set the school record in the 400 meter dash at 56.79 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational
  • Second Team All-Atlantic 10 in800m     

 
 
Elise Fortier, FCRH '14 (Softball)
  • Four-year member of the team
  • Career rankings:
    • 1st – Home runs (46)
    • 1st – Slugging percentage (.695)
    • 2nd – RBI (159)
    • 4th – On-base percentage (.443) (was first when she graduated)
    • 5th – Total bases (356) (was fourth when she graduated)
    • 5th – Walks (98) (was fourth when she graduated)
    • T-5th – Doubles (40) (was fourth when she graduated)
    • 8th – Batting average (.336) (was fifth when she graduated)
    • 9th – Runs (126) (was sixth when she graduated)

Jason Harris, FCRH 01 (Men's Basketball)
  • A four-year starter
  • Graduated 13th on the Fordham all-time scoring list with 1,218 points (currently 20th)
  • Holds school record for most three-pointers made in a game (10 – vs. Quinnipiac in 1999)
  • Holds school mark for career three-pointers (274)
  • Hit 93 three-pointers as a junior in 1999-2000, the second best single season in school history
  • Currently fourth on the all-time school steals list with 227
  • Holds school mark for steals in a game with nine, set against Holy Cross in 1999
  • Also holds school record for steals in a season with 78 in 1999-2000
  • Named to the 2001 Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team

 
 
Nick Macarchuk (Men's Basketball Head Coach)
 
  • Served as head coach from 1987-1999
  • Compiled a 161-192 career record at Fordham
  • Won two Patriot League titles (1991 and 1992)
  • Rams advanced to one NCAA Tournament and three NIT tournaments under his leadership
  • Named 1999 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year
  • Also named Patriot League Coach of the Year (1991)
  • A four-time league or district Coach of the Year at Fordham

 
 
Ifeatu Otue, FCRH '73 (Men's Soccer)
  • Member of the men's varsity soccer team from 1970-1972
  • Scored 29 career goals and added 20 career assists for 78 career points
  • Ranks fifth all-time with 29 career goals (was number one when he graduated)
  • Tied for third all-time with 20 career assists
  • Ranks fifth all-time in total points with 78
  • Recorded 15 assists as a junior in 1972, a school single season mark
  • Scored 14 goals as a sophomore in 1971, the ninth best total in school history (was a school record when he graduated)
  • Recorded 33 points as a sophomore, the eighth-best single season in school history, and 31 points as a junior, tied for the ninth-best season total
  • Two-time team captain
  • Two-time team MVP

 
Natali Sunara, FCRH '96 (Women's Tennis)
  • Transferred to Fordham from Palm Beach Community College where she was the seventh ranked player in junior college
  • Fordham's number one singles player for two years
  • Represented Fordham at the 1994 Rolex ITA Regionals
  • Advanced to the quarterfinals of the 1994 New York State Tournament
  • Recipient of the 1994 Patriot League John "Pat" Rooney Award (Tournament MVP)
  • 1994 All-Patriot League in singles play, going 5-1 at first singles against Patriot League competition
  • 1994 All-Patriot League in double splay (with Athena Constaninou)
  • Helped Fordham go from 3-15 in 1993-1994 to 14-3 in 1994-1995
  • 1995 Hobbs Award winner
  • Served as a co-captain as a senior in 1995-1996
  • Named to Academic All-Atlantic 10 in 1996
