Boston, Mass. – (January 28, 2023) – The Fordham men's track & field team followed up the women's team's performance at the River Hawk Invitational with another strong showing on Saturday at the TRACK at new balance in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Rams posted six season-best times, beginning with
Daniel Asher in the mile run, as he took ninth in the mile run in 4:16.88, ahead of teammates
Ben Borchers (21
st – 4:23.15) and
Justin Lombardi (29
th – 4:25.20).
Fordham then had three runners in the 400-meter dash, where
Matthew Nurse posted a season-best time of 50.06 seconds, good for tenth overall, while
Kevin Callaghan was 16
th (50.16) and
George Pomer in 49
th (53.82). Pomer also ran in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 36
th in 9.71 seconds.
Next up was the 500-meter run, as
Erik Brown finished tenth overall in a season-best time of 1:06.07 with
Isaiah James in 28
th place (1:08.43).
Another season-best performance came from
Rodolfo Sanchez in the 3,000-meter run, finishing fourth overall in a season-best time of 8:23.39, while teammate Nicholas Grabarz was 28
th overall (9:04.90).
Then in the 4x400 relay, Fordham took third place, as James, Nurse, Callaghan, and Brown posting a season-best time of 3:21.92.
The final season-best performance came in the final event of the day, as
Steven Zucca won the 5,000-meter run in a season-best time of 14:35.18.
Aside from those track performances, the Rams also had
Yariv Simhony and
Eric Jacobson run in the 1,000-meter run. Simhony was 18
th overall in 2:35.15 with Jacobson in 21
st in 2:36.45.
In the field events,
Eric Galante took part in the long jump event, placing 11
th with a mark of 21' 3 ½", while
Michael Croke tied for 21
st in the pole vault, clearing 13' 7 ¼".
The Rams now look forward to the 2023 Metropolitan Indoor Track & Field Championship, which is set for Friday, February 3
rd at the OBP Track & Field Complex on Staten Island.
