League Release
Newport News, Va. – Fordham softball sophomore
Bailey Enoch has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. For Enoch, it is her first career weekly league accolade. She is the third Ram to earn Pitcher of the Week this season already, the fourth time in program history that three different student-athletes have earned the award in a single year.
"Bailey had two back-to-back solid pitching starts where she did a good job pounding the zone, locating well, and using all her pitches, pitching with confidence." Head coach
Melissa Inouye said, "She continues to learn and grow from each outing and makes our pitching staff even stronger."Â
Â
An All-Rookie selection a year ago, Enoch was terrific in the circle for the Rams this past week, earning both of the team's wins over four games. The sophomore got the start in nonconference action midweek at Hofstra, rebounding from two unearned runs in the first inning to silence the Pride bats through the next five frames before giving way to
Makenzie McGrath in relief in the seventh. Then, in the series finale against Saint Joseph's on Saturday, Enoch notched her first career shutout, limiting the Hawks to just four hits and a walk over six innings while matching her career-high of eight strikeouts.
Â
For the week, Enoch allowed just the two unearned runs over 12 frames, striking out 10, with an even 1.00 WHIP. In those two games, she also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs, walks, and a RBI, too. Extrapolated to her last 10 contests, all starts at pitcher or DP, Enoch boasts a .360/.500/.720 slash line with three home runs, eight RBIs, and six walks, all tied for most or second-most among the squad.
Â
Fordham returns to action with more midweek nonconference action – a doubleheader at Army on Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.
