Softball Unveils 2023 Schedule

Defending Atlantic 10 Champions to Play 51 Total Contests, Four Preseason Tournaments, and Will Host 2023 League Championship

Bronx, N.Y. – Head coach Melissa Inouye has revealed Fordham softball's 2023 schedule, comprised of four preseason tournaments, including one in her native Hawaii, 51 total contests, 16 at home, and the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship to be played at Bahoshy Field for the first time since 2018.

The Rams will kick the new campaign off at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla. from February 10-12. They will take on Auburn in the season opener at 4 p.m. and Missouri right after, Prairie View A&M and Illinois the next day, and Pittsburgh on Sunday. The following weekend, Fordham will compete in the Elon Softball Phoenix Invitational, playing Saint Francis twice, in the first and final games, the hosts, and both Michigan State and James Madison.

The squad will wrap up play in February with the four-game Winthrop Garnet & Gold Tournament in Rock Hill, S.C. Fordham will play two doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, February 25-26, first against Harvard and North Carolina Central and then LIU and Winthrop. Fordham will make the long trek to the University of Hawaii for the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu. The Rams will play Niagara and Hawaii twice each and Iowa State once across three days, March 9-11.

Atlantic 10 play begins the following weekend at Dayton for a three-game series March 18-19. In midweek on Wednesday, March 22, Inouye will face off against her old school, Iona, in New Rochelle at 3 p.m. Three days later, the Rams will host St. Bonaventure for a doubleheader in the home opener before finishing the weekend series on Sunday at 11 a.m. On Wednesday, March 29, the Rams will host Delaware for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

The homestand will continue that weekend with a three-game set against George Mason to begin April before finishing it by hosting Hofstra on Wednesday, April 5, for a lone game at 3 p.m. Fordham will then head to Rhode Island on Easter weekend to play three games on Friday and Saturday, April 7-8, before returning home to host St. John's on the 12th at 3 p.m.

Back to the road the Rams will go to play at Saint Louis for three games on April 15-16 and then play two on Wednesday, April 19, at Saint Joseph's. Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, bring Massachusetts to the Bronx for three games and then it's new league member Loyola Chicago's turn to play at Bahoshy on April 29-30. In between those series, the Rams will play one Wednesday contest at Stony Brook on April 26. The regular season will finish May 6-7 with three games at George Washington.

The A-10 Championship returns to Bahoshy Field for the first time since 2018, when the Rams won all three games to secure a sixth straight league championship. Fordham is coming off its ninth league title, won at George Mason in May, and 10th NCAA Regional appearance.
