Rams Post 96 Percent Graduation Rate for Student-Athletes

Bronx, N.Y. – Eleven Fordham University athletic programs recorded a perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the latest data reported by the NCAA. Overall, Fordham student-athletes graduated at a 96 percent clip, tied for second among all Atlantic 10 schools.

Recording perfect scores for the Rams were baseball, men's soccer, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track and field/cross country, women's track and field/cross country, volleyball, and water polo.

"The academic success of our Rams is a testament to their high character and hard work," said Fordham director of athletics Ed Kull. "This achievement speaks to the undeniable quality of our academic advisors, faculty, staff, and coaches who support our Rams and reiterates the invaluable Fordham education our student-athletes are receiving. We are proud to be an academic leader within our conferences as well as on a national level."

La Salle tied for the best rate nationally and led all A-10 schools with an overall GSR of 99 percent. Davidson, Dayton, Fordham, Richmond and St. Bonaventure tied for second in the league with a 96 percent GSR, followed by Saint Joseph's at 95 percent. Davidson had the most teams in A-10 sponsored sports with a perfect score with 15, followed by Fordham, La Salle and St. Bonaventure with 10 perfect programs each (the A-10 does not sponsor water polo). Overall, 12 of the A-10's 14-member institutions boast a GSR at or above 90 percent, and seven institutions improved their scores over last year. The national average GSR is 90 percent.

The GSR measures graduation over six years from first-time college enrollment. The NCAA Division I Board of Directors created the GSR in response to Division I college and university presidents who wanted data that more accurately reflected the mobility of college students than the federal graduation rate.
