Bronx, N.Y. – (May 4, 2021) – Following a weekend of voting, Fordham fans have selected their choices as the best of the best for the Fordham A-10 25
th Anniversary Golf Team.
Fans were asked to vote on for a seven-person squad, and below are the top vote-getters. The next anniversary team vote will feature track & field.
Here is a deeper look at each golf individual:
John Cesarz (1995-99): Cesarz was a part of Fordham's initial four-year run in the Atlantic 10. He was a three-time selection to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team and finished in the top 30 at the Atlantic 10 Championship twice. His best finish was a tie for 23rd overall at the 1997 Championship, while that same season he won the Monmouth Quad Tournament. His best scoring average season was as a senior (80.8), while his best round (70) came as a junior. |
Peter Jenkins (1998-2002): Jenkins had a successful four-year run, where he was a two-time A-10 Academic All-Conference Team. His best season came as a junior, when he won the ECAC qualifier tournament, while tying for 17th overall at the Atlantic 10 Championship. He also had his best scoring average season at 77.2. He capped his career by winning the Hofstra Invitational as a senior, earning A-10 Performer of the Week honors, and tied for 27th at the A-10 Championship. |
Gabe Allen (2000-04): Allen is the lone left-hander on the anniversary team and a former team captain. A consistent performer, he got better each season in scoring average, going from 805 as a freshman to 77.0 as a senior. He earned Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors once as a senior, while tying for 25th overall at the 2004 A-10 Championship, helping the Rams to their best-ever team finish. |
Brian McClure (2002-06): McClure was another member of the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championship team, that had the squad's best-ever team finish at fourth overall. He had three top 25 finishes at the Atlantic 10 Championship, tying for 25th in 2004, tying for 13th in 2005, and tying for 15th in 2006. That 2006 Championship also saw McClure post the best single round performance by a Ram at A-10s with a round of 68. He also won two tournaments in his career, taking the individual title at the Hofstra Invitational in the 2004-05 season and the Peacock Invitational in the 2005-06 campaign. |
Devon O'Rourke (2008-12): A member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, O'Rourke had a stellar career and was a part of the Rams' 2009 ECAC Championship team. A four-year competitor at the A-10 Championship saw his scoring average improve from 78.6 as a freshman to 76.2 by his senior campaign. He shot a personal-best round of 69 during his senior season and had his best finish at A-10's, tying for 23rd overall. |
Jason Del Rosso (2009-13): Del Rosso is one of the most accomplished golfers in team history, earning four Atlantic 10 weekly awards and having a scoring average of no worse than 76.1. He holds the current low round record at 67, which occurred in 2009, while tying for first at the Dartmouth Invitational, and helping the Rams win the 2009 ECAC Championship. As a senior, he led Fordham to three team titles and had his best finish at the A-10 Championship tying for 30th. He also set the school's career mark for scoring average at 75.8 by the end of his career. |
Joseph Trim (2014-18): Trim is the only Fordham golfer to place in the top 30 at the Atlantic 10 Championship all four years of his career. In 2016, he helped Fordham to a fifth-place finish at A-10's, the team's second-best finish, while tying for 17th overall individually. His best season came the following year, winning the Lehigh Invitational and earning Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week once. He posted a career-best scoring average of 73.6 and tied for 16th overall at the A-10 Championship. Additionally, he set the school record for low three-round score (211), as well as the Rams' career scoring average record (75.4). |
