Women’s Soccer Enters Final Week of A-10 Play in Playoff Hunt

Fordham Takes on Saint Joseph’s and Massachusetts in Final Two Regular Season Matches

Bronx, N.Y. – (April 7, 2021) – Taking a three-match win streak into the final week of the regular season, the Fordham Rams look to punch their ticket into the Atlantic 10 women's soccer playoff picture, as they face Saint Joseph's and Massachusetts this week.

Fordham (3-2-1, 3-2 A-10) heads into the weekend tied for second place in the Atlantic 10 North standings and controls its own destiny as the squad faces Saint Joseph's (3-6-2, 2-3-1 A-10) on Thursday evening, while facing North division leader Massachusetts (5-4-1, 4-2-1 A-10) on Sunday.

This will be the second meeting for the Rams against both the Hawks and Minutewomen, as the team hopes to avenge earlier losses.  Fordham fell at Saint Joseph's, 2-0, on March 18th, and were edged in double overtime, 2-1, by UMass on March 21st.

In the final match of the regular season, this will be the 23rd match-up between the Rams and Minutewomen with Massachusetts holding a 15-6-1 lead in the series after the 2-1 double-overtime win on March 21st.

LAST TIME OUT (3/31): As the end of the regular season gets closer, the Fordham Rams continued their winning way on Wednesday with a 1-0 women's soccer win over the Rhode Island Rams at the URI Soccer Complex in Kingston, R.I.

Fordham had the better of play in the first 20 minutes, posting four shots forcing Rhode Island goalkeeper Faith Hutchins to make to two stops.

The third shot on goal was the charm for Fordham in the 24th minute, when Rhode Island native Milan Bornstein netted her first goal of the season.  Kendall Dandridge played a long ball ahead to Bornstein at the top of the box and got a shot over the goalkeeper.

That one goal held up as the Rams completed their second straight shutout and third overall this season.  Fordham netminder Maria O'Sullivan made two saves for her second shutout, as Rhode Island was limited to eight shots in the match and only two corner kicks.

WIN STREAK: The Fordham Rams are on a three-match win streak for the first time since early 2018, when the squad won six consecutive matches, four of which were in conference play.

WHO'S NEXT: This week's results will decide if Fordham will be a part of the Atlantic 10 Championship which is set to be held, April 15-17.  Location of the Championship will be determined once the field is finalized.
