Bronx, N.Y. – (March 24, 2021) – After a tough match on Sunday, the Fordham Rams look for the bounce back this week for women's soccer with a pair of Atlantic 10 contests against Rhode Island on Thursday afternoon and at La Salle on Sunday afternoon.
Fordham (0-2-1, 0-2 A-10) enters this week's play after a difficult double overtime loss to Massachusetts on Sunday. Rhode Island is 1-5-2 this spring with an 0-1-2 mark in conference play. URI earned their first win on Sunday, defeating Boston College, 3-2.
La Salle is 5-1-0 thus far with a 2-1 record in A-10 play. On Sunday, they took home a 3-2 win over Saint Joseph's.

SERIES HISTORY: There have been a total of 21 "Battle of the Rams" with each team posting nine wins to go with three draws. Fordham has been the dominant force in recent years, going 6-0-2 since 2010. In 2019, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw with
Saige Bingman scoring late in regulation on a penalty kick to force overtime.
For La Salle and Fordham, this will also be the 22
nd all-time meeting with the Explorers having a slight edge in the series at 10-9-2. The two teams last met in 2018 with Fordham taking home a 1-0 win at Jack Coffey Field on a goal by
Brooke Salmon.
LAST TIME OUT (3/21): The scene was once again set for another stellar Women's Soccer Senior Day for the Fordham Rams, featuring a highlight from the senior class. Senior
Maura Holst scored in the first half for the Rams to continue that trend, however, the Massachusetts Minutewomen spoiled the day, taking a 2-1 double overtime decision from the Rams at Jack Coffey Field.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the first half in the 25
th minute, when
Maura Holst was taken down in the box, awarding a penalty kick to Fordham. Holst stepped to the spot and buried it into the left side of the net for her first goal of the season.
The score remained that way until the 55
th minute, when Nissa Pereira's corner kick hooked its way into the Fordham net to tie the game at one.
The match remained tied to the end of regulation, pushing the game into overtime. Following a scoreless first ten minutes, the game was decided in the 107
th minute, as from the left side, Grace Pinkus put a cross into the middle of the box that Lauren Bonavita headed into the net for the deciding marker.
In net, Fordham's
Maria O'Sullivan made two saves, while Alyssa Chase and Bella Mendoza each had one for the Minutewomen.
