NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference honored 3,761 student-athletes that excelled in the classroom in the spring semester, earning Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction, including 323 from Fordham, tops among all conference schools. Included in that total were 13 from the men's basketball program.
The total of 3,761 honorees during 2019-2020 is the most in league history. Previously the single year record was 3,377, set last year.
Designed to recognize excellence in the classroom, this is the third consecutive year the Commissioner's Honor Roll has been based on the entire academic year. Previously the award was granted following each semester. To be selected for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Freshmen and graduate students are eligible to receive the award.
Fordham had the most honorees with 323, followed by Saint Joseph's with 320. George Mason was third with 315 student-athletes honored, and Davidson (314) and Massachusetts (300) finished out the top five.
