Bronx, N.Y. – (February 13, 2020) – Fordham head coach
Jessica Clinton announced the addition of graduate transfer Kayla Morrison for the 2020 season.
"We are excited to have Kayla join us at Fordham this spring," said Clinton. "Her impact on our team and in training has been immediate. She has been a part of great programs that have excelled on the field. Kayla has been a part of Big 12 championships as well as NCAA tournament games; her experience in those games are invaluable."
Morrison comes to Fordham after spending the past two seasons at West Virginia. She provided depth at forward, appearing in 11 matches for the Mountaineers in 2019. She registered a season-high three shots against Fairleigh Dickinson on September 20
th, and recorded her first career point with an assist against Stony Brook on September 12
th.
Kayla Morrison
Morrison had an outstanding amount of academic success at West Virginia as well. She was named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Second Team, as well as to the President's List, the Dean's List, the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll, and the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.
Morrison was a TopDrawerSoccer.com All-America and Top-150 selection, playing for FC Virginia. She was also a four-year starting center back at Norfolk Christian High School, where she was a two-year captain and a three-time First Team All-State pick, netting 41 goals.
Morrison is one of many athletes in her family, as her father, Randolph, was a linebacker at James Madison University and sister, Kelly, was a four-year soccer player at VMI and also played semi-professional soccer with the Hampton Roads Piranhas.
