Dayton, Ohio – (November 5, 2025) – Dayton's Kyra Karfonta converted a penalty kick for the only goal of the contest, as the Flyers outlasted the Fordham Rams, 1-0, in the semifinals of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship at Baujan Field.
THE GAME
- The only goal of the game came following a foul call in the Fordham box, awarding a penalty kick to Dayton.Kyra Karfonta converted the attempt into the right side of the goal for her fourth goal of the season.
- The Rams had a chance to equalize in the 18th minute on a free kick into the box. Liina Tervo got off a pair of shots in the box that were blocked, while Lena Johnsen put a rebound shot off the right post.
- Fordham had two prime chances in the second half for the equalizer in the 54th and 81st minute. Tervo found Julia Acosta for a one-timer in the box, which was stopped by Dayton's goalkeeper for the first chance, while Renata Mercedes missed a free kick just outside the box above the crossbar on the second.
GAME NOTES
- Kyla King compiled four saves for the Rams.
- Tervo, Acosta, and Salma Simonin each had two shots for Fordham.
- Fordham ends the season with a 10-7-3 record.
- This was Fordham's seventh appearance in the Atlantic 10 semifinals.
