Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham athletics announced today that it is partnering with
Headspace, an impactful app that will assist with managing stress, anxiety, lack of focus or any other symptoms that affect mental health.

The app, which will be free of charge to Fordham student-athletes, includes over 1,000 hours of sessions spread over more than 60 topics. These sessions, which can be completed in as little as 10 minutes, are intended to help student-athletes prepare, perform and recover better.
"While our Ram student-athletes are juggling their sport, classes, extracurricular activities, community service, career development and other commitments, we know their mental health should be supported as well as their physical health," said Fordham interim director of athletics
Ed Kull. "Headspace's innovative strategies will truly help our student-athletes on and off the field. We are excited to provide access to these much-needed resources to support our Ram's mental health and bring balance to their busy lives, especially during these extremely challenging days of the pandemic, social and political unrest, economic concerns and overall uncertainty about the future. We are #OneRamily and always here to help each other through these tough days and times."
Headspace was officially launched in 2010 as an events company, but attendees wanted to take what they learned home with them. Andy Puddicombe, Headspace founder who received meditation training as a Buddhist monk, Rich Pierson, who needed help dealing with the stress of the advertising world, and a small team decided to make Andy's techniques available online so more people could experience the benefits of meditation anytime, anywhere. And that blossomed into the Headspace you see today: guided meditations, animations, articles and videos, all in the distinct Headspace style.
