Bronx, N.Y. – 12 members of the Fordham University football squad were named to the 2019 Phil Steele All-Patriot League Team it was announced this week.
Named to the first team were junior running back
Zach Davis, sophomore quarterback
Tim DeMorat, sophomore linebacker
Ryan Greenhagen, junior kicker
Andrew Mevis, junior offensive lineman
Nick Zakelj, and sophomore wide receiver
Fotis Kokosioulis, who was named first team at all-purpose and second team at kick returner.
Being placed on the second team were junior linebacker
Glenn Cunningham, junior running back
Trey Sneed, sophomore offensive lineman
Phil Saleh, and junior defensive lineman
Ellis Taylor, while junior wide receiver
Hamze El-Zayat and sophomore
Naim Mayfield (punt return) were named to the third team.
FIRST TEAM
Zach Davis (Jr., Wallingford, Conn./Sheehan)
• 2019 First Team All-Patriot League selection
• Gained 1,013 yards on 200 carries with seven touchdowns.
• Became the ninth Ram to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season.
• Led the Patriot League in rushing touchdowns and was second in rushing yards/game (84.4).
• Ranked 30th in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards and 36th in rushing yards/game.
• Also caught 14 passes for 82 yards.
• Has 1,498 career rushing yards.
Tim DeMorat (So., Merritt Island, Fla./Viera)
• 2019 First Team All-Patriot League selection
• Completed 232 of 393 passes for 2,674 yards and 10 touchdowns.
• Led the Patriot League in passing yards, passing yards/game (222.8) and passing touchdowns.
• 36th in the NCAA FCS in passing yards and 35th in passing touchdowns.
• 232 completions was seventh best single season in Fordham history while 2,674 passing yards was eleventh best.
• Also ran for four scores.
• Has 31 career passing touchdowns, tied for sixth-best in school history.
• Has 380 career completion, seventh best all-time at Fordham.
Ryan Greenhagen (So., Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII)
• 2019 HERO Sports Sophomore All-American
• 2019 All-ECAC
• 2019 First Team All-Patriot League selection
• 2019 Academic All-Patriot League selection
• Named Second Team All-Patriot League in 2018.
• Led team with 123 tackles, 83 solo, including a team-best 18.5 for loss and 4.5 sacks
• Also had eight QBH, one forced fumble and one pass break up
• Led Patriot League in TFLs/Game (1.54) and second in tackles/game (10.2)
• Third in the NCAA FCS in solo tackles/game (6.8), 12th in total tackles/game and 14th in TFLs/game
• The 18.5 TFLs was the third best single season in school history
• The 82 solo tackles was the second best single season in school history
• Has 33.5 career TFLs, seventh-best in school history
Andrew Mevis (Jr., Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw Community)
• 2019 First Team All-Patriot League selection
• A Second Team All-Patriot League pick in 2018.
• Handled all the kicking duties for the Rams in 2019
• Connected on 15 of 20 field goals with a long of 46 and 31 of his 33 PATs
• Led the Patriot League, and 19th in the NCAA FCS, in field goals/game, and second in PL in field goal percentage
• Led the Patriot League in scoring (6.3)
• 15 made field goal in 2019 is tied for fifth most in a season in school history
• Kicked off 63 times with 50 touch backs
• Has 27 career field goals, tied for fifth most in school history
Nick Zakelj (Jr., Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights)
• 2019 First Team All-Patriot League selection
• 2019 Academic All-Patriot League selection
• 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection
• A 2018 Second Team All-Patriot League selection.
• Started all 12 games at left tackle for the Rams in 2019
• Blocked for the top-ranked offense in the Patriot League (357.2 yards/game)
• Fordham offense also led the League in scoring (25.0) and red zone offense
• A three-year starter on the offensive line.
Fotis Kokosiolis (So., Park Ridge, Ill. Maine South (NIU))
• Caught 49 passes for 621 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns
• Returned 40 kickoffs for 869 yards (21.7 average)
• 869 kickoff return yards was second most in a season at Fordham
• Led the Patriot League and was 21st in the NCAA FCS in all-purpose yards (126.6/game)
• Second in the Patriot League and 48th in the NCAA FCS in kickoff return average
• Ninth in the NCAA FCS in combined kick returns (871 yards)
SECOND TEAM
Glenn Cunningham (Jr., Glastonbury, Conn./Xavier)
• Named First Team All-Patriot League for second straight year
• 2019 Academic All-Patriot League selection
• Second on team with 78 tackles, 49 solo, including 8.5 for loss and 1.0 sacks
• Also had six QBH, four pass break ups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception
• Eleventh in the Patriot League in tackles/game (6.5)
• Has 40.5 career tackles for loss, third all-time at Fordham.
Phil Saleh (So., Oak Park, Ill. Oak Park-River Forest)
• 2019 Second Team All-Patriot League selection
• Started all 12 games at center for the Rams in 2019.
• Blocked for the top-ranked offense in the Patriot League (357.2 yards/game)
• Fordham offense also led the League in scoring (25.0) and red zone offense
Trey Sneed (Jr., Orange Park, Fla./Fleming Island (Rutgers))
• 2019 Second Team All-Patriot League selection
• Rushed 119 times for 502 yards and six touchdowns.
• Second in the Patriot League in rushing touchdowns.
• Third in the Patriot League in rushing yards/carry (4.64).
• Third in the Patriot League in rushing yards.
• Also caught nine passes for 50 yards.
Ellis Taylor (Jr., Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick)
• 2019 Second Team All-Patriot League selection
• Recorded 36 total tackles, 16 solo, including 9.0 for loss and 6.5 sacks.
• Also had seven quarterback hurries and one blocked kick.
• Led team in sacks and second in tackles for loss.
• Fifth in the Patriot League in sacks/game (0.54)
THIRD TEAM
Hamze El-Zayat (Jr., Dearborn, Mich./Fordson)
• Caught a team-high 62 passes for 642 yards and four touchdowns
• Ranked third in the Patriot League in receptions/game (5.3)
• Ranked tenth in the Patriot League in receiving yards/game (54.0)
Naim Mayfield (So., Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan)
• Returned eight kickoffs for 183 yards (20.4)
• Returned five punts for 66 yards (13.2)
• Sixth in the Patriot League in punt return average
• Also rushed 37 times for 175 yards
