Malvern, Pa. – The Fordham golf team improved as day one of the Wildcat Spring Invitational went on, finishing in solo 13
th with a team score of 295, a combined 11 over par. Drexel finished day one on top with a 12-under-par 272, followed by Akron at -10, the lone schools to finish under par.
Anthony Wells finished the day at even par with a career-low 71, tied for 12
th in the field of 104. The sophomore carded six straight pars before a double bogey at the par-4 fifth hole. Wells bounced back with a birdie two holes later and three total the rest of the way around a bogey.
Dean Cerimido and
Tomas Nieves each finished the day 3-over-par, tied for 47
th, while Tommy Hayes and
Josh Madarang each carded 5-over, tied for 76
th, and
Billy Harrison, competing as an individual, finished 9-over with an 80. Cerimido's 74 was a new career low, as well, his first round in the 70s in his fourth tournament, as was Harrison's 80.
Hayes led the Rams with four birdies. Fordham finished tied for second with a +3 mark on par 3s.
