Fleming Island, Fla. – Led by a top-10 from Luke Brower, Fordham University men's golf finished seventh of nine teams in a closely contested field at the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational to open the fall slate of matches.
The Rams concluded the opening round tied for third as a team Monday, before playing another 36-holes Tuesday afternoon. Manhattan were the winners of the tournament, followed by a three-way tie between Niagara, Monmouth, and Binghamton for second place. Sacred Heart and Merrimack were tied for fifth, followed by the Rams in seventh, Siena in eighth, and Hartford in ninth.
After 54-holes, the overall team scores between first and eighth were separated by just seven strokes.
Brower led the way for the Rams as a team, finishing three over par, just one stroke off a tie for a podium place, after opening the tournament with a one-under, 71 on Monday.
Liam Howard ended the first weekend of the spring at six over par, tallying a pair of even scores across the first two rounds, and finishing at nine-over in a tie for 20th.
Howard was one of three Rams with a Top-20 finish, alongside Eli Kaufman, who opened with a two-under 70 round, finishing in a tie for 20th place.
Patrick Ginnity and Jack St. Ledger were both just back of Howard in a tie for 22nd tied for 10-over par, followed by Kieran Cummins at 12-over par in a tie for 28th, and Tucker Silva tied for 51st
The Rams are back in action Mar. 27-28 when they head to Berlin, Md. for the Battle at Rum Pointe.
