Newport News, Va. – (November 7, 2019) – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its women's soccer major awards and All-Conference teams on Thursday with Fordham's duo of
Danielle Etienne (Paterson, N.J./Paramus) and
Kristen Cocozza (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) were both selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
Etienne and Cocozza are Fordham's first All-Rookie Team selections since
Margaret Roughley in 2016. In addition, it is only the second time that Fordham has had multiple Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selections with the other time in 2003 with Sarah Hopkins and Holly Laubinger.
Etienne has been one of the highest rated newcomers in the nation by
TopDrawerSoccer throughout the entire 2019 campaign. She appeared in 14 games for the Rams, starting 13 and contributed to four shutouts by the Rams. She missed a small portion of the Rams' season, as she was called up to the Haitian Women's National Team, appearing in the Caribbean CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and helped Haiti win the Group C of the Caribbean Qualifiers.
Cocozza appeared in all 20 games for the Rams in her first season, starting 18 contests. She earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors once during the year and rated fourth on the team in scoring. She recorded two goals and one assist for five points with both of her goals being game-winning markers against Manhattan (8/29) and VCU (10/6).
