Bronx, N.Y. - Last month, at the 84th Annual Fordham Athletics Block F Dinner, multiple Fordham University rowers were recognized for their outstanding achievements on the water and in the classroom.
Â
Katie Dillon,
Hana Kurihara,
Kat Napoli, and
Kristen Shuman all received Athlete Academic Achievement Awards for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher during their four years at Fordham.
Â
Kristen Shuman was selected as the team MVP. As the stroke of the JV8+ crew, Kristen played a large role in the success of her boat this year. She also provided invaluable leadership to the entire team through her role as one of the team captains.
Â
Kat Napoli was honored as the recipient of the Kieran Award. The award, named after John Kieran (Fordham College Class of 1912) is presented to a Fordham athlete who has made significant contributions in the classroom as well as in their sport. A four-year varsity rower and the bow seat of the Varsity 8+ crew, Kat majored in Communications with a minor in Psychology. She was a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all four years, earning Academic All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 2017 season and graduating with a 3.92 GPA.
