Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team defeated conference foe La Salle 6-1 on Senior Day at Hawthorn Rooney Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams dropped the doubles point to the Explorers but that would be their only falter as they went on to sweep all singles matches.
Carolina Sa got things started defeating Alexandra Santarelli 6-0, 6-2 at fifth singles. Sa was followed by
Maia Balce who bested Brittany Poje 6-2, 6-2 in third singles,
Whitney Weisberg defeated Jayla Smith 6-1, 6-2 in sixth singles and
Estelle Wong defeated Tiffany Theophil 6-1, 6-2 in first singles to clinch the match.
Tatiana Grigoryan and
Gianna Insogna also picked up wins as Grigoryan defeated Ali Snyder 6-2, 6-1 in second singles and Insogna earned a hard fought three-set win over Jade Smith 4-6, 6-3, 14-12.
The Rams return to action Friday April 27 as they travel to Orlando, Florida for the Atlantic 10 Championship, to be held at the USTA National Campus.
