Box Score Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham softball team wrapped up the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic II in winning fashion on Sunday afternoon, taking down NR/RV Florida International, 7-2, to improve to 4-11 on the year.
Freshman
Paige Rauch got the start for Fordham and went the distance, allowing just two runs over her seven frames to pick up her fourth win of the year. The Rams lead throughout, getting on the board in the second through a
Madi Shaw solo home run, adding two on a two-run double by
Skylar Johnston in the third, three in the fifth on a wild pitch and two-run single off the bat of
Madie Aughinbaugh, and a final tally in the sixth on a
Chelsea Skrepenak RBI single.
Seven different Rams tallied one hit apiece. Shaw and Johnston each recorded the lone extra-base hits and Johnston also stole a base. Rauch, Skrepenak, and
Jordy Storm each walked once.
The Rams travel down to Tuscaloosa next weekend to take on the nationally-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide twice at their tournament. They'll also face Samford twice and Boston College.
