Box Score Tampa, Fla. – The Fordham softball team wrapped up the USF Tournament on Sunday morning with a 5-2 loss to Drake. With the loss, the Rams fall to 1-9 to start the campaign.
The Bulldogs plated three runs in the second inning and two more in the fifth to earn the win. Fordham rallied for two runs in the sixth and put two runners on in the seventh but couldn't drive them in. A sac fly and two-run bomb gave Drake all the runs it would need in the second frame.
Skylar Johnston provided the lone Ram runs in the sixth, launching a two-run jack that scored
Brianna Pinto, who had singled just in the at-bat before.
Chelsea Skrepenak reached on a one-out single to second in the seventh which preceded a Deanne Burbridge single to first base, but the duo were left stranded to end the game.
Madie Aughinbaugh got the start and went the first four innings, allowing three runs, before coming back in to pitch a clean seventh frame.
Anne Marie Prentiss allowed the other two runs over her two innings of work in between.
The Rams next travel to Orlando for the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic II and will play Ball State, Notre Dame, Robert Morris, Troy, and Florida International. All games can be seen on FloSoftball.com
