Florence, Ala. - (November 8, 2018) - The 2018 Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Among the District 1 honorees is Fordham senior midfielder
Clara Gastaldi (Suwanee, Ga./Marist). She is the first women's soccer player to receive Academic All-District honors since Nicole Bates in 2016.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
Just a week after receiving Atlantic 10 All-Academic honors for the second straight year, Gastaldi picks up her first regional accolade. Holding a 4.0 GPA and majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, she is a three-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's honor roll and a 2017 ECAC President's Honor Roll selection. This year, she ended the season fourth on the team in scoring with six points on three goals, helping Fordham reach the Atlantic 10 Championship for the third time in the last four years. Her three goals were tied for second on the squad with two being game-winners.
The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
