Atlantic 10 Full Release

Newport News, Va. – (November 1, 2018) – Prior to the semifinals of the conference championship, the Atlantic 10 Conference announced the major award winners and All-Conference teams for women's soccer on Thursday, as voted upon by the league's coaches.  Fordham senior defender Brooke Salmon (West Hempstead, N.Y.)  was among the winner, earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 accolades.

In addition to Salmon, senior midfielder Clara Gastaldi (Suwanee, Ga.) and junior midfielder Margaret Roughley (New Providence, N.J.) were selected to the All-Academic team, in a vote by the conference's sports information directors.  This marks only the second time that Fordham has had multiple All-Academic selections (1997 – Christine Geres & Amanda Olsen)

Salmon picks up her third All-Atlantic 10 honor, having been Second Team All-Conference the last two season.  She started all 19 games for Fordham this season, breaking the career records for games played (80) and games started (78).  She notched a pair of goals on the year, both of which were game-winning tallies, while helping the Fordham defense post eight shutouts.  In addition, the team tied the school record for goals against average, set last year at 0.82.

Gastaldi was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season, holding a 4.0 GPA and majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.  A three-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's honor roll, she ended the season fourth on the team in scoring with six points on three goals.  Her three goals were tied for second on the squad with two being game-winners.

Roughley makes her first appearance on the All-Academic Team, holding a 3.84 GPA with a major in Applied Accounting & Finance.  She moved back to her natural midfielder position in 2018, starting all 19 games and leading the Rams in scoring with four goals and nine points.  She ended up tying her career-high in points, while setting a new career-high in goals.
