League Release

Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 has announced today the 2017-18 women's basketball conference schedule team pairings. The league's 14 members will again play a 16-game schedule this season, allowing teams to face every opponent once and three teams twice. For the Rams, those three teams will be Davidson, Dayton, and Saint Louis. The complete 2017-18 conference schedule, including dates and times, will be announced at a later date.
 
Fordham's home opponents for the upcoming campaign will be George Washington, La Salle, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, and Saint Joseph's, and will travel to Duquesne, George Mason, Massachusetts, Richmond, and VCU. As mentioned, the home-and-home match-ups will be with Davidson, 2017 A-10 champions Dayton, and Saint Louis.
 
The Rams are coming off their fourth 20-win season in the past five years, finishing 22-12 overall with an 11-5 mark in league play, and reaching the second round of the WNIT for a third time in the last five years, as well, defeating Georgetown on the road before falling at Penn State two days later.
 
Three of last year's five starters return, including senior G'mrice Davis, who finished the season second in Division I in all major rebounding categories, becoming the second Fordham player to ever average double-digit boards in a single season, following in the footsteps of Fordham hall of famer Anne Gregory O'Connell. The program saw five departures in the offseason but will offset them with an influx of fresh faces; seven freshman have joined the team, plus redshirt freshman Breanna Cavanaugh will become active after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.
