Orlando, Fla. – The third-seeded Fordham women's tennis team defeated No. 14 La Salle 4-0 in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The Rams started the match as hot as the Florida sun, as
Alexis Zobeideh and
Mayu Sato blanked Jade Smith and Ally Santerelli 6-0 in second doubles and
Maia Balce and
Carolina Sa cruised past Jayla Smith and Maansi Malhotra 6-0 in third doubles.
Carina Ma and
Estelle Wong were up 5-2 over Brittany Poje and Ali Snyder in third doubles when the match was halted.

The rackets remained hot in singles play as
Gianna Insogna cruised past Jayla Smith 6-1, 6-0 in fifth singles,
Mayu Sato defeated Jade Smith 6-1, 6-1 in fourth singles and
Maia Balce clinched the match in third singles, defeating Ally Santerelli 6-2, 6-1.
Fordham will face No. 11 Rhode Island in the quarterfinals on Friday at 9 a.m.
