Annapolis, Md. – The Fordham water polo team finished up play at the Navy Labor Day Open on Sunday, posting two victories over Gannon University and McKendree University to finish the tournament at 3-1.
In the opening match on Sunday, the Rams recorded a 13-8 victory over Gannon University.
Fordham jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter on the strength of three goals by senior
R.J. Simmons, while
Cameron Shewchuck and
Ian Watson each had a goal.
The Rams continued to lead by four through three quarters before finishing the game with three goals in the final period for the 13-8 win.
For Fordham, Simmons finished with four goals in the game, while Watson and
Grant Keesling each had two goals.
Magnus Sims,
Ethan Vandeventer,
Cole Donnelly, and
Tristen Knoflick rounded out the Rams scoring for the game.

In game two, the Rams took down McKendree by a score of 16-8
The Rams cruised to an 8-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, leading 10-1 at the half, 11-3 after three quarters before the final of 16-8.
Vandeventer and Sims led the Rams offensively with three goals each, while Donnelly had two goals and two assists. Watson also had two goals and two steals, with Knoflick and Shewchuck each having a goal and two assists.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action, September 10-11 at the Princeton Invitational, where Fordham will have matches against Cal Baptist, Santa Clara and Harvard.
