Stanford, Calif. – (December 6, 2025) – The Fordham water polo team's push for its first national championship ended on Saturday, as the fourth-seeded Rams fell to top-seeded USC, 16-7, at the Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, California.
THE GAME
- After USC opened the scoring, Fordham tied the game at one at the 4:14 mark with a goal by Diego Tresa.
- The Trojans though would score three times to finish out the quarter with a 4-1 lead.
- USC extended the lead to 8-3 by halftime with Alessandro Salipante and Andras Toth getting on the board for the Rams.
- The Trojans would put the game out of reach in the third quarter, outscoring the Rams, 5-1, in the period for a 13-4 score.Fordham's lone goal came from Mark Dyck on a cross cage shot.
- Fordham would score the first two goals of the fourth quarter to pull within seven at 13-6, but ould not get any closer, falling by a 16-7 final.
GAME NOTES
- Toth and Marco Napolitano each had two goals for Fordham, while Salipante had a goal and two assists.
- Luca Provenziani notched two assists in the game to give him a Fordham single season record of 103 for the season.
- Toth ended the season with a single season school record of 134 goals.
- In net, Matthew Bonello DuPuis made six saves to go with a steal.
- Fordham ends the season with a 26-4 record.
