Hellertown, Pa. – The Fordham University golf squad is off to a fast start at the 2016 Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Invite as the Rams lead all 19 teams after the first day at the Silver Creek Country Club.

The Rams sit in first place with a team score of 303, three strokes ahead of hosts Lafayette College and seven in front of third place Villanova.

Fordham's
Matt Schiller leads all golfers at the Invitational with a first round even par 71. He carded five birdies on the day, the most for any participant, three of those on the back nine.

James Mongey is four strokes behind Schiller, turning in a first day score of 75, which ties him for seventh overall, while
Josh Madarang carded a 78 for the first round to tie for 22nd overall.

Joseph Trim shot a 79 on the first 18 to sit on a tie for 29th overall. He carded the lone eagle on the day when he came in at three on the par-5 14th.

Also competing for the Rams are
Thomas Hayes, who shot an 82 to tie for 60th overall, and
Kyle Morris, who shot an 84, tying him for 76th.

The Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Invite concludes with 18 holes of action on Monday.
