North Kingstown, R.I. – The Fordham golf squad open play today at the Rhode Island Invitational being played at the Quidnessett Golf Couse at the Quidnessett Country Club where the Rams sit in fourth place of nine teams after two rounds.

Fordham shot a 293 over the first 18 holes today and then a 299 on the second 18 for a two round total of 592, three strokes behind St. John's and Saint Joseph's, who are tied for second with a 589. Bryant leads the team competition with a 574. The Rams are two strokes in front of Wagner and Rhode Island, who are tied for fifth. Rounding out the team scores are Laval and Holy Cross, tied for seventh at 607, and UMass-Lowell (614).

Individually,
Matt Schiller is the top Fordham golfer, carding a one-under  71 on the first 18 and a 76 on the second for a 147 total to sit in a tie for 12th. He tied for the team lead with six birdies on the day.

Joseph Trim is tied for 18th after shooting identical two-over 74s in each round for a total of 148, while
James Mongey, who notched five birdies, is tied for 21st, carding a 77 and an even par 72 for a 149 total.

Thomas Hayes, who recorded five birdies, sits in a tie for 25th, carding a one-under 71 over the first 18 and a 79 on the second for a 150 total while
Josh Madarang is tied for 41st, with a 79-77-156.

Oscar Cabanas, competing as an individual, is in a tie for 25th, shooting an even par 72 over the first 18 and an 80 on the second for a 152 total. He tied Schiller for the team lead with six birdies.
